Phoenix is one of the nation’s largest cities, and it’s still expanding. But this can pose as a challenge for job seekers.
With a sea of options, choosing a place to work can be challenging.
Below, eight Phoenix professionals share their opinions on the best places to work in Phoenix.
Look for New Development
Start your search in places with a lot of development, such as Scottsdale or Chandler. Many new and old companies are starting to move into the Arizona area, so going where they go is crucial to finding great places to work. If anything, consider starting your own business! Phoenix is a growing market with lots of possibilities to explore your own entrepreneurial spirit.
They’re Still Moving Here
There are plenty of best places to work in Phoenix. However, some of the best places to work aren’t even here yet. What I mean by that is that many companies considered “Top Employers” are actively starting or relocating operations to the Greater Phoenix area. You see this with tech companies coming from Silicon Valley to the Valley of the Sun. Silicon Valley Bank, DoorDash, Opendoor, and more have all announced plans to hire more people in new Phoenix offices. GPEC, Business Journal, and AZCentral.com are all great places to stay up to date on news of companies relocating here.
Commercial Real Estate
AVANA is a family-focused company that has a profitable track record of more than 18 years. We reward performance and choose meritocracy over mediocrity. If your values are the same as ours, then we encourage you to apply for our open positions. Together, AVANA has become a dominant player in the commercial real estate mortgage market.
If a friend were moving to Phoenix and they were looking for work, my first piece of advice would be to immerse themselves into the local community as soon as possible. Find a meetup around that profession and start attending. This will not only surface great companies to target but build a high-value network in the process.
First, figure out what you want out of a workplace. For me, an ideal workplace has a welcoming and upbeat culture where everyone’s ideas are heard. Markitors is a startup SEO company that embodies this to a tee and has been voted a best place to work for three consecutive years. It’s a place where young, talented professionals thrive.
My favorite clients would be at the top of my list of referrals: U-Haul, Discount Tire, Grand Canyon University, Trapp Technology, OH Partners, AZ Lottery, and MGA Home Care.
Metro Phoenix is a great place if you want to work in financial services. Most of the large banks and credit card companies have big operations here (AMEX, Discover, Wells Fargo, Chase, etc.) as do several large insurance companies (USAA, State Farm, Nationwide). We are also home to many of the FinTech companies such as Prosper, Marcus (Goldman Sachs), and Quicken Loans.

Big Name Businesses
Godaddy has a great reputation. Paypal seems to foster a great company culture. Quicken Loans also seems to have a lot of loyal employees.
