PHOENIX, Ariz. – Career Connectors recently announced the Sheila Coulam Education Scholarship in honor of Sheila Coulam, a former dedicated staff member who played a pivotal role in shaping the organization. Sheila’s nearly seven years of service were instrumental in developing programming, creating sustainability and bringing hope for Career Connectors. She managed the events and operations through the challenging COVID-19 era, ensuring that our mission of support and empowerment continued uninterrupted.

After announcing the scholarship in her honor, Career Connectors received an array of diverse and outstanding applicants looking to make a difference for the betterment of society. After a rigorous selection process, Career Connectors is thrilled to announce the winner of the prestigious Sheila Coulam Education Scholarship in the amount of $3,000 as Gabriela Rodriguez.

Gabriela has volunteered and worked in diverse nonprofit settings and will be using the scholarship to further her education and career in the nonprofit sector by enrolling in ASU’s Nonprofit Certificate program and using the scholarship to fund her education. Her aspiration is to step into a director role within a nonprofit sector where she can put her passion and expertise to work in front of those who need guidance and support. When Gabriela and her sons found themselves facing financial hardship several years ago, it was through the support of nonprofit organizations that helped them discover their own pathways to self-sustainability and that’s what Gabriela aims to do for others.
