Prepare for an Event

Are you new to Career Connectors?

Welcome! We are thrilled you have found the Career Connectors website. If you are in career transition, we look forward to walking through this journey with you. When you attend one of our events, you’ll be equipped with resources and connections. You’ll also enjoy a smile, gain some motivation and feel an overwhelming sense of hope. You can do this! We are excited for what lies in your future!

Career Connectors is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to connecting professionals in career transition to hiring companies and quality resources. We are primarily event driven; connecting people and resources at events. We bring in professional career speakers to deliver content that is relevant and actionable to current professionals. We also bring in three to four hiring companies per event. You will hear them speak and then get one on one face time to talk about their company, culture and open positions. The last hour is dedicated to providing you services and networking time to talk directly to the speakers. Free professional services include resume review/critique, business portraits, social media, LinkedIn coaching and educational opportunities.

We are not a staffing company so we will not be able to job search for you.  We will provide you professional resources, information and connections so you can move forward quickly.

What to Expect as a First Time Guest

We are thrilled you have chosen Career Connectors as part of your career transition journey.  Our mission is to connect you with all the resources that you need to land into your new position quickly.  Attending networking events can often be overwhelming, so below are some tips on what to expect and how to prepare.

  1. What to Wear:  This is a professional networking group so you will feel most comfortable if you wear business casual or better.  This is a great opportunity to network with other professionals, including recruiters that are actively hiring.  This is your time to make a stellar first impression!
  2. What to Bring:  Bring your resume, a pen and some paper for notes.  If you don’t have your resume done, that’s okay!  Bring anything you have as we have professional resume writers at every meeting to provide feedback on your resume.  Bring your laptop if you’d like.  We have LinkedIn coaches ready to help with your profile.  If you have a business card, they are useful as well.
  3. Where to Go:  Pull directions, logistics and the address from your registration confirmation.  Printing your registration is not necessary.  There is ample parking at all sites with signs pointing you towards the correct building.  It may take you a few extra minutes to find the correct room location so arrive about 30 minutes early.  Arriving early also allows you time for open networking and to introduce yourself to some of the volunteers and speakers.
  4. Events Overview:  The events consist of 3 main components.
    • The first part is dedicated to relevant career transition speakers and community resources.  Every meeting has a primary keynote speaker that is motivating, energetic and relevant to your transition.
    • The second part is dedicated to hiring companies.  Each event typically has 3-4 hiring companies that will showcase their company, culture and positions.
    • The last hour is dedicated to pure networking and job search assistance.  You will be able to speak directly with the career experts, community resources and hiring companies.  Each event has a plethora of resources including resume review,  professional photos, LinkedIn coaching and more.

Navigating the world of career transition can be an overwhelming experience.  In addition to the mechanics of transition (updated resume, career search strategies), there is the deeper need to connect to people who are in the same situation as you are.   For me, all of this was answered by Career Connectors!  Had it not been for this organization, I might still be sitting in my house, wondering what to do next!  At just one Career Connectors meeting you can be inspired by great speakers, … Read more

If you are a job seeker in transition or looking to find that new great position I highly recommend Career Connectors. The search process has changed significantly over the years and Career Connectors will provide you many tools that will allow you to stand out and demonstrate your unique value to potential employers. At each event I had the opportunity to “sharpen the saw” through top notch expert presentations on image portrayal, positive attitude, networking, social media presence, job… Read more

Networking helps, especially when you do not directly know anyone at a target company. I have attended 4 of your meetings and at one of them a company representative and recruiter presented. I was already familiar with this company, but she also said some other things in the presentation that made me take notice and created more interest on my part. I spoke with the recruiter at your event and she followed up the next week and from there I went on several phone interviews and on site interview t… Read more

I would like to share that I landed a contract position for 6 months with possible conversion to a permanent position on the team after those contract periods complete. I work on a team as an Instructional Designer and the team is virtual, which means I am able to work from home 100% of the time! I am very excited for the future of my career! I wanted to share that I sadly won’t be seeing you at Career Connector events for the next 6 months at the very least, and we’ll see how my performance … Read more

I’ve attended a few of your events in Gilbert and Scottsdale since returning to AZ and being an active job seeker. I’m happy to report that I’ve been offered a job! I’m over the moon about the offer and couldn’t be more grateful after a long, three month search (that definitely felt much longer…. 🙂 ). I want to thank you for your programs. You have excellent speakers who always energized me when I was needing it most. And your resume reviewer was great. She was a tough cookie with a red pen y… Read more

Good news. I have landed. Thank you for your support throughout my job search journey. You and your organization has lots to offer besides the positive energy, uplifting of self confidence and immense networking opportunities. I am very appreciative of the efforts and time put forward by you and your team.

After a company layoff thrust me into the job market, Career Connectors was exactly what I needed to develop my networking skills. Networking is a job in itself, and the skills I learned helped me to land a temporary position just three months later that is now permanent. I believe in the Career Connectors mission and continue to volunteer as a way of expressing my appreciation for their support during a very tough time…thank you Career Connectors!

Thank you, Jessica. Although I wasn’t able to meet you personally, I was able to see you working with another applicant and was impressed with your efforts and the excellent platform that your team presented. Thank you very much.
